My floral textural pieces started by me wanting to give a close friend a present of flowers but ones that’ll never die. I wanted to capture how receiving a bunch of flowers makes you feel: the joy and happiness of a special present.  I have tried to communicate the vibrant colours, delicate aromas, and bursts of joy; which is an ultimately a fleeting feeling - much like the flowers themselves. My first step was to create a digital image which I hoped to reflect the essence of the blooming flowers. Then I experimented with different colours and textures to give depth and vibrancy within the piece as the layers interact with each other. Finally, I added the gold leaf to emphasise the luxury of indulging in these fleeting moments of delight. As a result, another style emerged.
